Christmas at LAMS

Due to the pandemic, we made the decision to postpone our Christmas party this year but that hasn’t kept us from celebrating. Over the last couple of weeks, we have been wearing our Christmas jumpers and listening to Christmas music. We’ve had Secret Santa and Christmas quizzes as well as spending a lot of time eating Christmas food!

Our favourite achievements of 2021

In our Newsletters we try to keep you updated about any changes in the service, and things we have accomplished. Here are our favourite 6 achievements for this year;

1) The development of a training package for care homes and hospices that will enable the employers to train their teams in stoma care.

2) NAMS becoming finalists in the Nursing Times awards for managing long term conditions.

3) Improving our communication methods with 4 members of the team learning BSL and 3 members starting a Makaton course.

4) Developing our medication prescribing so our nurses can initiate prescribing of medication needed for conditions related to your stoma.

5) The extending of our opening hours on Monday and Wednesday evenings until 8pm and Saturday morning 9am-1pm.

6) The development of our service to form links with support services and other primary healthcare providers to enable signposting if needed.

Connect Prescription Services Website

We will be posting live information on the service phone-lines on the website. There’s information on how to order your prescriptions, frequently asked questions and some useful contacts. The link to access this is below;

Ways to Order & Reminder Calls

With the aim of improving and running a more efficient service, LAMS are moving towards providing an outbound call service. This would involve members of the prescription coordinator team calling you at an agreed time, before your order is due, effectively acting as a reminder service. We will be offering this service on your next call. We hope this will reduce the queue and wait time on the phone for any queries and also reduce the risk of you running out of products. Please be aware, if you are planning a holiday to order your supplies within plenty of time.

You can also email your prescription when it is due. Simply confirm your details (Name, DOB, address) and the items required. We will process the request and respond to your email with confirmation of receipt.

Please forward your request to blmkccg.lccg.lams@nhs.net

Our busy periods on the phone lines tend to be Monday all day and the first and third Wednesday afternoon of each month. Tuesdays after a bank holiday are also very busy and wait times on the phone may be longer. We apologise for any delay during these times.
